Default Danny Boy/Londonderry Air arr by Steven Faile

Hi all - this is my arrangement of Danny Boy/Londonderry Air played on my Taylor 514CE recorded with a Bluebird Blue microphone. Elixir Strings (12's). It's a modified "C tuning" I suppose from lowest to high the strings are tuned C-G-D-G-B-E.

This is the best recording I've gotten to date and am using minimal compression/effects/limiting.

All comments welcomed. I am curious to know also how you are hearing this (i.e. earbuds, studio monitors/speakers)

Thats a great arrangement
The movement and harmony you get is absolutely spot on.

Thanks TBMan! The smartphone is probably the ultimate test for any mix so I appreciate the comment.

That's a great arrangement, it really flows from start to finish and the harmonies really enhance the overall sound (as has already been said). To me it still generates that pleasant feeling of inner calmness I always get when I hear this beautiful tune. Londonderry Air is one of favourites. Nice playing!!

Great arrangement and playing, loved it! Really good engineering too, I've just listened on professional studio monitors and the balance from high to low is great.

Thanks to all for the wonderful comments! I'm very pleased to read these responses because I wanted to do a more contemporary reharmonization while still maintaining the emotional impact of that great melody.

Thanks again

Really nice. A very different feel to the arrangement over most of those of Danny Boy. Not so slow and sappy, got some energy. It's a great melody.

Thanks rickwaugh! I listened to every version of this song I could find and decided to not do a traditional reharmonization. I really appreciate your comment.

Hi all - after some time away I remixed this (also referenced some of Tommy Emmanuel's recordings) and I think I've gotten a good template for my future mixes.

If anyone has time to listen again I would greatly appreciate feedback:

This is the original (def a bit boomier and less high end detail)
