Default Gibson J-15

Walnut slope dread for $1499 - at that price you almost can't afford not to have one...

Anybody played one yet...?

Not yet - I'm waiting for one to show up at the local GC. Looking at it on the Gibson site gets my juices flowing . . . it's already at GC online

Yes, they are solid.

From the first box on the page. I'm real curious to play one of these.

This is a guitar I would really want, and even buy unseen. Not that many that I would.

I'd of course need the spare money to do that...

Dang that bright maple neck though -- I wish it were mahogany, or at least, that they stained it so it wasn't such a contrasting colour from the walnut.

That's what I thought, too, but the neck fits perfectly with the bright top of the guitar! I think it's a nice variation of what we see on common Gibson models. And the price… well I have to try one of these, they'll be in german stores at the end of february, for about 1500$

I wanted to check one of these out for you guys (okay, for me too, LOL), but the Gibson room was small and ridiculously crowded. And loud. Guess we'll have to wait for one in a store.

Fred, I'll be especially interested to hear what you have to say after you've had a chance to play a few of these. You've forgotten more about Gibson acoustic guitars than I've ever known, and you are most definitely someone whose opinions on the subject I respect.

So let me know what you think once you've encountered some.

Thanks.

The J-15 has a decent street price for the UK too, £1099.
