Default Zachery Hoyt banjo

My custom Zach Hoyt (#60) arrived today. What a great banjo! I had it custom made and I'm absolutely LOVING it! This banjo is walnut with a 12" rim. It has a Whyte Laydie tonering and Rennaisance head. I had him use brass hardware and a Kirschner style tailpiece. I ordered the full fretboard (non-scooped) and had it setup for finger picking.

The tone is great! It's a combination plinky and thumpy, perfect for what I'm looking for. Craftsmanship is great on this banjo. It's not as highly polished as a lacquer finish would be and the neck is a bit thicker and wider than my other banjos. It's a real joy to play.

The pics below were taken by Zach. I'll try to get some sound files soon or maybe a video.

Sometime, a Hoyt may be in my future. I'd like to take a spin up to Hoyt's place and actually see banjos in the process of crafting. Maybe even come home with one. Enjoy!

Although I have not spoken to him in person, he appears to be very easy to get along with. He responds to questions quickly and seems eager to please. I am absolutely loving the banjo he made for me.
