Default Christmas Guitar Music for the AGF - Silent Night.

Back in Ought-0 (that's the year 2000) Elixir Strings put out a Christmas CD, titled "Great Strings. Great Music. Volume 2 - An Elixir Guitar Strings Holiday Collection" (there had been a non-holiday CD released, as Volume 1).

There were all kinds of submissions from the various Elixir endorsed artists, and my rendition of Silent Night was selected to conclude the album.

This has been languishing in obscurity for well over a decade now, and I thought sharing this with the hordes here during the holiday season might be a good way to dust it off...

Silent Night - mp3

It's in Open G, and *no*, I don't have any tab. Sorry.

Very nice. Do you remember what guitar you used on that recording?

Sorry, Bill...I couldn't tell you the guitar, nor could I play this exact version again, under any circumstances...!

Sounds like a Tippin to me, although it could've been a Bourgeois or a...

Bottom line: It has your touch, Larry, and gives me peace when I listen to it.

Thank you.

Beautiful, Larry. Thanks so much for posting and sharing. Of course, now that I know it is in Open G, I can go home tonight and figure it out in no time. (Yes, that sound you heard was me falling on the floor and laughing my posterior off!)

Happy Holidays!

Thanks for sharing that Larry... Great fingerstyle work.
I remember attending the Healdsburg Acoustic Guitar Festival at about that time. (We lived just down the road a bit).....
Elixir reps were handing out free strings and hats for the guys and girls. I still have the hats somewhere around here... The strings got used up long ago being replaced by new sets over the years. I liked the Elixirs on my guitar when our little church group would go Christmas caroling house to house in different neighborhoods and towns in that area...over the years too (when weather permitted). Anyway.. Thanks for posting your version of Silent Night!

Well, I hope you're feeling well enough to play. Did you ever go on that last tour you had planned (if I'm remembering right)?

If any guitar could be called the X-mas guitar then this is it, what a nice bell like tone it has. Definately put me into the X-mas spirit. Thx a lot Larry, enjoyed listening.

...I've been able to play guitar maybe about 6 months out of the past 2+ years.

Right now I *am* playing, and am about to do a coupla' concerts w/12-string wizard Tracy Moore (Eugene & Seattle), and I then I head out with Peter Janson and Steve Davison for a 10-gig American Guitar Masters tour...WA, OR, CA, AZ...woo-hoo!

I'm pretty psyched-up for all of this.

My pleasure, Glenn.

Say, would you be "up" for a quick swing-by visit on Christmas day...will you be home?

Larry you are a Master. Such talent, maybe someday in the next life I will be able to play like that. On a harp of course. Wonder IF I could sneak a guitar in.

I thought I was the only one that feels my way through songs. I don't use fingerstyle, but when I do arpeggios, it's by the seat of the pants each time around. It's close but never the same.

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

Glad if some people do find some enjoyment in this kind of thing...
