Default NGD: Eastman E20D

Yesterday, I received a new Eastman E20D. I've gone "all in" with Eastman this year, adding several new guitars and trading out some others that were no longer getting enough attention. As usual, Ted at LA Guitar Sales was extremely helpful in finding the perfect guitar for me. He played through three different guitars and provided honest feedback to ensure confidence in my decision.

It delivered yesterday, and wow! This guitar is a cannon --- just as loud as my Eastman E40D, and right out of the gate, the tone and sustain are superb. I am mostly a strummer, but played through a variety of songs with open chords, barred chords, capoed songs, and even some fingerstyle... and this guitar passed each test with flying colors.

The build quality is excellent, and I am very pleased with the top, which is mostly blonde with just a bit of red grain mixed in (and a few faint markings / bearclaws to add character). Likewise, the Rosewood body is fairly straight, and the back has this really interesting single dark streak that runs perpendicular along both sides of the bookended back (see last two photos). Can Rosewood have a bearclaw too, LOL??!!!

This guitar completely exceeds my expectations, and I'll be keeping this one for many years to come.

Obligatory NGD photos:

The E20D is a cannon for sure. Eastman does Adirondack/Rosewood very well.
It's voiced so that the mids are there with more punch, more so than a D28. I like that. The bass response is tighter as well.
You got yourself a really nice guitar, far exceeding it's price.

I think I'm going to need to pay Ted a visit sometime.

Thanks, all. Jamie, we talked about your E20D back a few months ago. The timing wasn't right then, but it was right now.

Mortimor, I highly recommend Ted at LA GS. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable and helpful, he's a great contributor to this board. For this guitar, he was my one and only call I had to make.
