Hi, the Martin 12 fret dread is also my favourite, but as Gibson only made one 12 fret jumbo - the Roy Smeck - which is quite a different design, I didn't include it.

I just in the last couple of years discovered the wide variety of guitar shapes thanks in part to joining this forum. I had always played dreads because I thought that's how guitars are supposed to look/sound. Then I bought a 000/OM size! It is much more comfortable to play and has a better balance in tone.

I am now looking with some curiosity at 00/L-00 size.

Hi, in this quickly assembled poll, I'm thinking primarily of body designs and sizes.

I needed to separate the original and current Martin 000 from the later 14 fret rhythm version, and there is often confusion with the usage of Dreadnought Vs Jumbos etc.

When you say "slope shoulder" - do you mean the Martin style 12 fret dread, or the Jumbo?

I pretty much like the shape of most guitars. I'm not too keen on ones where the upper bout and the lower bout are about the same width, the waist is very narrow or the guitar is very skinny.

Yeah - my favorite guitar shapes are all Taylors.

I also like the looks of Martin 0, 00 & 000 12 frets - but the 14 frets don't do much for me.

From smallest to largest:
I'm going to a Concert (GC) at the Auditorium (GA) to see the Symphony (GS) Orchestra (GO)

It's really seems kind of odd that the number one guitar maker in the US would be excluded from this poll... doesn't it?

14-fret 00 Deep Body!

50-something years ago I started with jumbos and Ds. Eventually moved down to 000. Now my 00DB is my all-time favorite.

As I've grown, my guitars have gotten smaller.

I get some teasing about that 00 against my 6' 4" frame. I don't care. Wonderful sound paired with great comfort.

Thanks,
Hi Andy...

I voted for the J-185 Mid/Small Jumbo...a guitar body style I have and love, but I would also have voted...if I could...for the J-200/Guild F50 style full jumbo.

There is just something about the round deep timbre of the tone...and the strong deep low E bass...from a jumbo style body that I really love, and you just can not get out of any other body shape/size...with the exception of the 12 fret slope shoulder dread body like you prefer. Even there though...some 12 fret dreads can get overly woofy/muddy and I have never noticed that really on the Mid/Full jumbo body style.

Another body style that can also do that...if you get just the right guitar...is the Martin 0000M body style.

You tricked me, Silly Moustache!

Your title said "favorite body shape" and your poll said "favorite body DESIGN". I'm a pretty literal thinker... My preferred body shape would be the Martin Dread, followed up by Taylor Grand Auditorium... conspicuously omitted . While my favorite body DESIGN is the OM. I love the OM shape, but not in love with the sound. I can't exactly flip the script for my other selections as I like them all. That OM shape is just sexy the way it flows, even more than the GA.

I voted L00 but on second thought the LG is probably my favorite shape. Great for fingerpicking, flatpicking and light strumming.
