1956 Martin 00-18 *$OLD*
Thought this was sold but alas, it's back on the market
Up for grabs is a spectacular 1956 00-18 (SN 148600). It recently had a neck reset, refret and reconstructed bridge/saddle/nut in 2016 by an authorized Martin dealer/repair service center locally. It also had a strap pin installed in the heel. There is the typical but small b-string/pick guard crack and previously repaired impact crack on back/lower bout that is cleated internally and a small crack on the upper waist that is also cleated internally. At one point the previous owner had an under saddle pickup installed but the bridge plate holes have been filled in. Bridge plate is original and in good shape. It is currently set up with 12's with nice low action with plenty of room on the saddle to come down if needed. Sounds wonderful and plays effortlessly. It comes with non-original, but vintage hardshell case. Asking $OLD Below are some video/recordings with this guitar

please share the nut width, string spacing & neck profile. Also who was it in Houston who did the work for you?
Thanks, Randy

Randy,
Thanks for your interest. Nut width is 1 11/16th. String spacing is maybe just under 2 5/32". Neck has a soft v, measures about 0.86ish at the 1st fret. Danny D in League City did the work. Thanks! Windsen

Your serial number looked familiar; my '56 is 12 numbers away from yours. These are great guitars! Good luck with the sale.

Wow, small world! I'm only selling because I recently acquired a '49 00-18 shade top. Wish I could keep both!

I've got a '53 00-18 I found a few years back on Craigslist in Nashville. Yours is in a lot better condition than mine is but the repaired cracks on mine are solid, the "divots" on the face don't impact the sound, the neck reset was well done and I love it. If yours is like mine, it's a very physically light guitar and you can play it forever.
Good luck with your sale, someone should be very happy and give it a nice home where it will be played a lot. |

I think the 00-18 was Martin's best guitar.
I have a '43 it is ridiculous how good it is. An 85 year old local music legend we jam with has owned his '44 for around 30 years. One of our great young singers is 19 and the only acoustic she's ever had is a '69. Bought my brother a '67 several years ago, his main guitar ever since. Pretty fun to play these together when we get the chance! PS I also have a '39 L-00, looks like we have similar tastes Best success with your sale, Steve |

Right on, Steve! I have a '49 00-18 shade top. I'd love to keep both but the shade top edges out just slightly.

To answer a question being asked - crack on back has been cleated.
