Default Martin now has LR Baggs Anthem option

So what's the story behind Martin now offering LR Baggs Anthem in their guitars? I thought they did only Fishman Pick-ups. Honestly, the Anthem is better. Just curious cuz I was at a guitar store and found one and now see them online.

I have an Anthem SL and Fishman in different guitars.
Which one is "better"?
I'll never tell.

I’m not talking about different pick up options. I’m saying Martin is now installing LR Baggs Anthen Pick ups in their more expensive guitars straight from the factory. Usually it’s Fishman or their design from Fishman.

I can't help you with any back story, but Martin did add the LR Baggs options earlier this year, and folks seem to like the idea.

For folks who were not aware, here are the new electronics option that can be installed at the factory:

D-Tar- $440
LR Baggs IBeam - $435
LR Baggs Lyric - $420
LR Baggs M-1 - $200
LR Baggs Anthem - $505
LR Baggs Element - $300
Shadow NanoMag - $230

I've got some back story, but if I told you, I'd have to kill you.

BTW - where's the guy who usually says, "you should have gotten a K&K"?

Interesting. I guess the more options, the better. I have an Ellipse Blend in my D-18V. I think it's a great system. I have an Anthem SL in my Gibson LG-1 3/4 Arlo Guthrie. The SL was the only mic/UST that would fit. Both good.

Curious. Is Martin installing the full Anthem or the simpler (no knobs/dials no battery indicator unit) I am on the fence between the two available. I love simplicity but want great sound! Will being going into a custom Martin OM cutaway. Finger-style with just a "tick" more reverb than most like. (For what it's worth, the KK (passive only) will have to be removed! (I have several other Martins with just the KK passives. They all sound very good but I want to try a shot with dual-source!

The Baggs Anthem is in two of my Collings OM's. (Full anthem)

I just got a Martin OMC-18e recently (from Ted at LA Guitar Sales)

Never thought I'd say this, but the Fishman Aura VT Enhance actually is a bit punchier, sounds a little more balanced in frequency response and is working a little better in my Duo/Trio mix.

The Baggs Anthem does sound a bit more like a mic with a bit more 'air' perhaps. (Noticed more alone and perhaps not noticeable in the band mix)

I love the Anthem, but I am enjoying the Fishman Aura VT Enhance as much if not more. Go figure.
