Well, good; that balances out my vote. I chose small jumbo, but on a different day I might have picked the OM.

Another guitar model size that I like is the deep bodied H. I have played ones by Santa Cruz, Collings and Froggy Bottom. They seem to be between a 00 and a 000 and they are incredibly balanced in terms of how they feel in your lap. Something about where the waist is just makes them comfortable to play with still plenty of volume.

Best,
Jayne

I am not 100% yet, but this may be becoming my favorite.....

Wow, very surprised at how low Dread's percentage is. And I agree with others here... for as many Taylor fans as AGF has, it doesn't seem like a good cross-section of styles without the GA.

My favorite design is OO, OOO, or OM. I do love that booming dread sound though. I think you missed the OO 12 fret.

I voted 14 fret Dread, but I have to say that I'm surprised by how popular the OM polled and even more surprised by how the 00 size is beating out the slope dread J-45 style.

The 14 fret 000 & OM use the same body dimensions.
The difference is the scale length and fretboard width only.

The 000 12 fret is the original and IMHO ideal design. That's why I separated them.

Default SCORES ARE IN !!

My humble survey / poll is now closed.

We got 266 votes.

Most popular flat body guitar shapes as follows :

No.1 - with 32.3% = the Martin 000/OM 14 fret design

No.2 - with 18% = the Martin 14 fret dreadnought

No.3 - with 11% = the 00 and L-oo Martin/Gibson designs

No.4 - with 9.8% = the Gibson Jumbo (J35/45-AJ) type design

No.5 - with 7.9 % = the 000 (Martin 12 fret style)

No 6 - with 6.7% = "other" ???

Small Jumbo (Gibson “185” style and similar) - 4.5%

0, L-0/1 12 fret styles - 4.5%

Original dreadnought 12 fret - 3%

Super jumbos - 1.88%

So, , I left out the 00 12 fret as I had intended for which I apologise, so they might be in "other".

Would have hoped to have seen more of original dreadnoughts - but they are creeping back slowly.

Any thoughts/comments?

I like my Ovations , which are near the OOO shape, I guess. I never measured them nor do I know what Martin calls a OOO. Same with the Guild F47R. I played some Taylor Orchestra models too, that fit well and sounded darn nice.

I was raised by Martin Nazis so played nothing but square-shouldered dreads for over thirty years. About ten years ago I discovered slope dreads and have begun to prefer them, especially for fingerstyle. Most of my barn is now the slope variety, although I have a wonderful HD-28 I will never sell.

Dreadnought square or slope shouldered even if smaller bodied guitars are potentially more comfortable to play.

The 14 fret 000 and the OM have identical body shapes but the 000 has a short scale vs the std scale on the OM.

They are, of course different to the original 000 12 fret - which is the most aesthetically beautiful to my mind.
