Squire Sonic Stratocaster
Hi Folks. Just saw a write up on these a d got a pretty good review. Anyone here try or own one?

That's Fender's version of a thing that hardly existed a decade or two ago but has gotten commonplace now. The $200-$300 guitar that, if you get one with good fretwork and no issues, is extremely playable and pretty much able to do whatever most players would need. I think their body is a little thinner than "standard" and made or fairly light wood so they feel really light and easy to handle.
For me the sticking point is the hot, harsh and muddy sounding ceramic pickups. I've got kind of a hangup about Tele/Strat pickups that are loud and punchy rather than open and chimey. If you've played one and liked how it sounded, they are pretty amazing IMO for the price. I can very close to buying a hardtail Strat in the previous generation Squier Bullet range as my first electric guitar a couple years back.
