Default Basic Windows 10 set up

All I want to do is NOT use my phone or the camera and Voice Recorder on my Surface 3 pro to record very simple video and audio recordings.

My desk top does not have a camera in the monitor.

I assume I need to buy a USB mic of some sort, and an external usb camera. I assume there will be software associated with each device.

Once they are installed, how do I make them work together (sync)? Is there additional (simple) software I'll need?

Will the video/audio software "know" to find each other, or will it require manual syncing?

Where do I start?
Thanks
Scott

Are you also interested in doing audio-only recordings? If not, and its strictly video, you can save yourself a lot of headaches by using a camera with decent audio capability like the Zoom Q4N: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Q4N

Mike,
This looks...easy. Plug in, install software, mount somewhere good distance for recording (three feet), and go wide angle...Bob's yer Uncle. We might have a group of 8 or 9...from a good audio recording distance will it capture most of the bodies? And, does it install it's own software for both video and audio for recording, playback, and uploading to you tube?

Cheers and thanks for the suggestion. Wouldna thunk of it myself.
