Default Pete Huttlinger's Essential Exercises for Fingerstyle

I bought this dvd a couple of years ago right, but never got around to really see what it was about. It comes with a small booklet of exercises and two songs. I watched Pete go over the exercises and what he said of the exercises reminded me of my guitar teacher that I had way back when. (40 years ago).

What he said in a nutshell is that you have to do fingerstyle exercises every time you practice. You never "master" them and stop. You just always do them.

I think this little book and dvd might just give me the structure I need.

(I'm big on structure - especially "lists" - I need a list to get anything done, )

Hi Barry...

I revisit the DVD about twice a year, and since I'm always writing and arranging I don't run through the exercises he prescribes all the time.

But they are wonderful for building the volume of and variety of licks we as finger stylers need to build our library of licks.

For the speed and precision and Pete's playing and his arrangements and compositions that contain those requirements you do
indeed have to keep at it. One can be somewhat more laid back about it if the demands of one's repertoire are not as high - and
that includes most people.
