Default A few originals for my newborn son - '56 Martin 00-18 content

I became a dad 7 weeks ago and part of our nightly routine of getting our son to bed is me playing guitar for him during his last feed for the evening. I've been working on a series of originals for him in the process and finally got some time this weekend on a retreat to the family farm to record some of them. I am pretty happy with how they came all. All single take, no overdubs.

Here's the setup:
-1956 Martin 00-18
-Martin Retro Custom Lights
-1963 Fender Telecaster + 1965 Fender Princeton Reverb (overdub on "Mint")
-Nuemann TLM102 x 2 (XY stereo setup)
-Universal Audio Solo 610 x 2
-Focusrite Scarlett 18i8
-Cubasis

Please enjoy! Comments welcome and appreciated!

"The Furrowed Brow"

"Mint"

"The Gray House"

The inspiration (see below the 18i8)

Nice playing and congrats on the baby boy. The guitar sounds great too.

Welcome to the parental time warp. The next 20 years will blow by no matter what you do, but take in every moment and take lots of pictures. And treat your wife like she is still your girlfriend, no matter how many kids you have.

Great picture too.

Congratulations, I wish you the best of luck.

I loved Mint.

Congrats and cherish (the guitar) and the family. I have two in college and one in high school. Time flies... Your photo made me smile wide.

Great job on those and congratulations. Does the 1956 year have special significance? You definitely look too young for birth year.

thanks everyone for the kind words! we are having a blast with him.

'56 was my parents's birth year. but that's not why I purchased it. it was a right place at the right time situation and the guitar spoke to me =)

Congrats! I used to play for my little ones all the time.

The coolest part now, I get to play music with them! 15, 12, 7. Bass/ukulele, cello, drums.

It does go by quick. I played an acoustic duo with my oldest, she just sang instead of playing and it was a complete blast. We are going to do it again.

I help my middle with her cello, even though I know nothing about it.

My youngest, he's the drummer and really good. I have a built in jam partner that wants to jam out all the time.

Enjoy it for sure!

I like "mint" sounds great.

Revised "Mint" and "The Furrowed Brow" with some small overdubs and added a third track "They Gray House"
