Default Installing welded (Bitterroot) truss rod

I’m installing a truss rod that’s the type with a single threaded rod and a welded bar. (See attached picture) They’re often supplied by Bitterroot guitars. I’ve only used StewMac Hot Rods before and StewMac recommends a little silicone on the ends to prevent possible buzzing.

When using the truss rod with the welded steel bar, is it advisable to use silicone or some other adhesive to secure the truss rod?

I'll sometimes squirt a little rubber cement at two or three spots but usually just add a hair of tension to the rod. I don't like silicone near anything I'm going to finish but I'm a bit of a slob and definitely no pro.
