I felt compelled to testify...Alistair can build anything.

This custom X20 nylon 12-string has a 2" nut width and 3" bridge spacing. It can also be strung with a variety of strings and combinations (and is currently is strung with silk & steel octave pairs).

Tommyld;

What a beautiful guitar; congratulations! You have every right to be proud.
The X20 is a remarkable instrument, one that works in a number of configurations.

My x20N was ruby red, had a slight fretboard radius, and a 1 7/8 nut width. One of the things that most amazes me about Alistair's work is his ability to produce custom work to a player's specifications at a reasonable price.

Default The first Emerald nylon string

is a green X10 that Alister built for me back in 2008. I love it! Wonderful tone! Not as loud as a wooden guitar, and a different tone. The trebles really sing! The basses are very good and have a unique tone, not quite as prominent as the trebles, bu very adequate. The fingerboard is a treat to play.

I also have a Takamine Santa Fe nylon string with the turquoise inlay from 1998 or 1999. I like it a lot too!

In fact when playing either one, I like it better than the other one. The Emerald has the better neck though.

But my favorite guitar to play, even though it is NOT acoustic, is my 1999Parker Spanish Fly with custom RMC pickups.

Best regards,
Tom

Tom;

I think that when Alistair first started making guitars he was using Parker necks, which helps account for his sense of just how good a neck can be. He then started making his own necks and the one on my X10N is the easiest, fastest neck that I've ever played on a nylon string guitar. My only complaint about the Rainsong is that I am not as comfortable with its neck; I prefer a 1 7/8" nut width and a little flatter board. Personal taste seems to be one of the biggest factors in the guitars we choose.

I asked Alistair to make my x20 a 12 fret and move the bridge, no problem.
1 7/8 nut, and a slotted headstock.
there's no issues regarding projection. this thing is LOUD.

CFW;

Very nice guitar. You clearly knew what you wanted and Alistair clearly made it--sweet sweet sweet.

Those are exactly the dimensions that I would like.

I'm beginning to get interested ...

CFW,

Beautiful guitar. If I go nylon, then this is very close to (or more likely exactly) what I would get.

Cheers,
Tom
