David Gilmour played a Tak or Jose Vilaplana classical live on "High Hopes." HERE he plays the song on the Division Bell Tour.

He moved over to a Taylor NS72 nylon crossover for the same song for the Remember that Night concerts where he took an extended solo at the end of the song.

Hope that helps!

Bob

Not that I am near the level of others mentioned on his thread, but i perform with a flamenco guitar, a classical guitar as well as a Taylor 714 Nylon. Oh, and a Uke as well! Each has it's place in the lineup. I'm a firm believer in mixing things up, musically speaking.

Gotta love that nylon sound!

Gibson caled many of their guitars "Spanish" even the ES series which were
"Spanish/Electric.

Yes, I would have to say a Spanish guitar is a guitar made in Spain just as a "Cajun" accordeon is an accordeon made by a Cajun.. all other similar instruments including the original invented by an Armenian immigrant to Austria were known as one row 10 button, two bass, bisnoric , diatonic , bellows driven free reed , aerophones... AKA melodeons akkordeons, akkordions, accordeons, accordions, one row accordeons, single row boxes etc.

The Cajuns neither invented them nor the "cajun" tuning ...

Just as the Spanish did not invent the guitar, they ( Torres et all) did stablish the current classical configuration... but just as many clasical guitars if not more have been made elsewhere than Spain.

Yes a Spanish guitar is a guitar made in Spain.

Ergo not all one row 10 button

I might disagree with that. A Spanish guitar is a classical guitar made in the Spanish style of construction. i.e., built in a solera with a Spanish foot inside the guitar, and a built in neck type of construction, with a fan bracing system of some sort.

Charlie Byrd played some pretty nice jazz on one. Of course, he is not current. Another from the past was Chet Atkins, great on nylon strings (and any others).

Roy Clark is one more.

Default Do any current musicians use classical or Spanish guitars on stage?

Lol, I love classical vs nylon vs Spanish arguments. Trigger !! the N 20 was touted by Martin as a classical guitar wasn't it? Geez I swear Willie has even talked about it that way. I am not sure what kind of guitar I have now, I have always called mine a classical guitar, now I feel like people are laughing at me behind my back.........
