my de facto baritone Rainsong OM1000
I keep it in BEADF#B, 13-56 Mediums. The Fishman electronics are long gone, replaced with my own SBTs. This was recorded mic only:

I do something similar with my last remaining Martin - a rosewood jumbo J-40. I use heavy gauge (59-14, D'Addario EJ-18) strings tuned down to C-C. I found the medium's to be just a bit loose and floppy for my taste, especially tuned at B-B, but very pleasant to play. For comparison purposes I have also done the same thing with my 27" scale Taylor 416 baritone. I actually like the Martin better in this configuration. I was forced to consider shorter scale lengths due to a left hand neurological issue. I lost a little strength and flexibility in that hand so the original 70-16 baritone set was a bit too hard for me to play very much.
Nice song, BTW. |

The Rainy's so stiff structurally, that the 13-56 set doesn't flop around; I like the slack feel, too--PD, and bone-to-bone arthritis in both wrists.
Thanks for the compliment on, "Here We Go, Runnin' ". |

Since then, I've started using .016-.070 baritone strings, and like them a lot--great big ol' piano-esque growl!

Sounds fantastic JLS, great playing! Wonder what an RS Jumbo would sound like converted to baritone
