First riff was the main riff from smoke on the water..

First full song was Good Riddance (Time of your life) by Green Day for me!

Default crowd pleasers

Ba Ba Black Sheep, Old McDonald and Bingo. I learned those ones so I can pander to my audience as they really didn't show interest in hearing me butcher "Wish You Were Here".

It was either Bourree in E minor, or Living in the Country; I honestly can't remember which.

I think it was "House of the Rising Sun". That might still explain my love for the Em...

I 'learned' songs but the first one I remember learning all the way through and all the guitar parts was "Something" by the Beatles. We played HS Homecomings and Winter Balls and we needed a slow song for the King and Queen dance. That was a perfect song for those dances and I really love the understated beauty of the solo. We learned "Smoke on the Water", "Cold Gin", "Cat Scratch Fever" , "Ridin' the Storm Out"....

"Greensleeves" in a very misguided attempt by my parents to get me playing classical guitar.

A year later "Under the Boardwalk" when I moved on to pop/rock kind of stuff.

Grand Old Duke of York, I was 8 at the time.
Strange coincidence is my wife asked me this question yesterday and I played the song for her , probably the first time I've played it in over 45 years.
