Default AKG 1000 s as a vocal mic

A friend of mine uses these. I had a chance to try one in the store today . I gave a it a try with my Triton Fethead phantom Powered preamp.
On its own it sounded good but with my Fethead it sounded amazing. It has a slight sizzle to the sound but that helps it cut through the mix

I must say I was quite impressed as I know people use them more for instruments and choir's.

It's funny as my Fethead preamp doesn't suit all mics but the microphones it really shines on is the Electro Voice RE 410 and now the AKG C1000s.
