Default Swannanoa Gathering 2014

Folks, the Swannanoa Gathering this year is going great!! Wanted to share a few videos of some great players that we're hanging with along the way:

Each year we sponsor a youth scholarship at the Swannanoa Gathering. This year it was Eli Bradock of Charleston, SC! Can't wait to see what he does in year to come!:

Here's Steve Baughman playing my Cumbus turned fretlless nylon banjo:

Vicki Genfan playing a David Berkowitz guitar:

Great to finally meet and hang with Beppe Gambetta. What an amazing and original style of playing. We talked about how he sees it as poetry:

Sorry the quality of the videos are a bit poor. Hope you all enjoy!!

Beppe had me in stitches telling banjo jokes in broken English at the concert ...

Highlights for me during Guitar/Contemporary Folk Week:

My song writing classes by Grammy Don Henry and Jim Lauderdale and the fantastic "Stage Performance" class by Livingston Taylor.

The concert performances by Amy Speace, Cliff Eberhardt, and especially David Jacobs-Strain stand out in my mind.

Also, the food was terrific and the weather (after the first day) was absolutely gorgeous!

Well, even though I caught a nasty flu bug halfway through, I had a great time. I enjoyed Steve Baughman's Orkney class - Paul, you were there - and I really got a lot out of both Cliff Eberhardt's Song Arranging class and Amy Speace's performance class. The Contemporary Folk teacher's concert was fabulous and I agree, Judson, Amy, Cliff and David gave memorable performances.

I also caught a couple of great song circles in the early part of the week. From those and from the songs that I heard shared in the classes, there were some talented songwriters in attendance this year.

Best,
Jayne

Eli Braddock played at the open mike Friday night and was absolutely smoking in his performance.
