Default for harmonies, changing voice from male to female in the compu

Yesterday I did some 'lookin' and found some interesting ideas, videos on altering a voice from male to female. They had pretty good success imho, as long as the altered voice was background harmonies. Anyone tried this before or have any ideas. The one video that worked the best used little alterboy. Anyone have any suggestions for free vsts that might do the same thing, ie have pitch and formant control?

Melodyne also does a really good job with this. You need a plugin that can alter the formant of the voice, not just the pitch. Otherwise, it just sounds fake.
