Default NGD - Gibson Jackson Browne Model A

I have been waiting patiently for over 5 years for this guitar. It is a "new" 2011 model. It sat in a case at the dealer's store as a collectible. As luck would have it, this is #1 of 100 made. I just pulled it out of the shipping box about 90 minutes ago, and have been enjoying playing it unplugged and plugged in. The pickup system is the Trance Amulet stereo system. It sounds stunning through my Schertler Jam 150 and Bose Compact. Happy camper here! Now I have to sell a couple of guitars before the Visa statement arrives! ~ Mike

Yup, one of the few Gibson J-45 types in 12-fret. I'll bet it booms and yet has cymbal-like overtones from that rosewood (it is rosewood, right?) Or maybe I'm thinking of the Roy Smeck model. Or maybe Gibson has so many J-45 variants I can't keep them straight any more.

Anyway, nice purchase and it's a nice looking guitar too.

Thanks Frozen Rat!It is actually English Walnut. It is one of several Smeck variants Gibson has made. I have owned the Stage Deluxe in mahogany, but this model is much more chimey.

#1 Holy Cow ! Had one a few years ago, had to let it go to fund another. Wish I could've kept it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lrlrZlLUAY

DD - Your YouTube video playing through the PA was a big reason I lusted after the JB in the first place. I have never heard such a huge, clean amplified tone.. thanks for the inspiration! ~ Mike

Hey 12, you own my dream guitar. I am pretty sure I hate you... I just looked at the pictures again, and now I am positive. Enjoy it.

These JBSM Smecks are nothing like the 12 fret J45's and SJ's...entirely different level guitar.

I'm a 12 fret freak - and found that Collings made the best Martin Dreadnought style, but i had a yen for a Roy Smeck design. It took me ages ! I ordered the Huss & Dalton version DS12 which was a dismal failure - something wrong in the build/top etc.

When the Jackson Browne Gibson came out, I scooted off to two dealers (40 miles in opposite directions) to try them out, but both guitars needed serious remedial work out of the box. I'm glad yours is in better condition.

I finally got my Roy Smeck - a Santa Cruz "RS" but it was a long hard road.

I beieve that Gibson have now made a limited edition model actually called the Roy Smeck now.

Congrats on the new JB model A!

I've had my Model 1 for 3+ years and really enjoy it. My first experience with a walnut guitar as well.
