Until you go in the acoustic room and there's a bunch of dentists strumming out of tune G chords.

Boom! I'm here all week kids...

both have their place when i was younger the acoustic was for campfires and other outdoor settings and the electric was for gilmour and hendrix licks
now i'm more bluegrass and country and blues and weeelll anything thats got a good guitar groove going so to play those tunes that need it its the electric but mostly now acoustic focused as it makes the bends slides etc on the electric so easy after gettin em down acoustic

Good point. God bless 'em all anyway, green haired shredders and dentists alike.

I usually walk past the electrics, but only because I already have an electric that I'm happy with and I'm not in the market for another right now.

That might change if there were a local dealer who carried Rickenbackers, though.

Depends on the store and the electrics/amps

I don't even bother playing anything (electric or acoustic) in a Guitar Center.

I really think electric is far less forgiving and mistakes really stand out. For me, this is translating into a better acoustic player.
I second this statement... I just started playing electric in February after 15 years of ONLY ACOUSTIC... I was in a rut, I wasnt getting any better, and I was bored with it. Now I have 3 electric guitars and 2 great amps and a number of pedals... my interest in guitar playing has peaked again, and I am actually getting better - so when I do pick up the acoustic, I feel like I am better than I was before - its been a great couple of months!

I know exactly what you mean. There's nothing like a little variety to keep things fresh and fun. That's how I keep going too.

You're not missing out as long as you stick with your "First Love"
I started out playing a 63 Fender Jazzmaster, but, soon got into writing lyrics, and acquired an unmistakable lure toward Acoustic playing. Seems my biggest problem during those times was, once I made the switch to acoustic, and stuck with writing what felt natural for me..."Which Was Writing, and Playing Country Songs,.. I progressed and was content in my personal guitar genre...

Then, like a dark shadow demon from my past, she would come along... The ever so seductive, alluring call of the...Elec-trick Slide...

I didn't know it then, but, my biggest problem was when I held an acoustic, it reached deep within me and inspired, or at least sparked a glimmer of creativity, based on life experiences, and wholesome desires for the meaning of life... Made me want to pick like, Chet Atkins,

Norwegian Mountain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-6hr9_xozc

Write like Robert Plant...

And sing like Elvis...

But, when I got close to an Electric Guitar... the

Yngwie Malmsteen devil possessed me, and well...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlYYRN8NCr4

I couldn't control myself... But, Now...

Now I know...I 'll never be any of those guys...

So, I just "Pick On Anything, and Anyone" I can ...
