New with 5 year warranty $600. Used...$350. This is a true gigging amp that is light enough to carry around and play at home. The others mentioned are fine, but play them next to the HRDX and they sound like toys. This will give you that big full rich all tube tone. Throw a few nice dirt pedals in the mix and you've got a perfect gigging combo.

In that price range, I think the Blues Junior offers the best pure tone, especially for Strat players.

If you are a humbucker guy, I like the Roland Cubes, which I think are the best of the solid state amps. Lots of function and great sound for the money.

I picked up my Laney LC15R (about 10 years old, like new) for under €200. A better option might be the VC15 - it's a bit more Fender/Vox esque while the LC15R is more like a little Marshall (it has lots of grit and grunt). Remember though, that 15 watts doesn't sound like much but when you turn it on it's A LOT and it's crazy loud with a 100dB speaker (like I've put in my 15 watter). And a tube amp does require some cranking before it starts to sound nice (unless you have a purpose-built one like the Mesa/Boogie Express amps).

As for solid-state, I've heard great things about the Tech 21 Trademark 30. I've never tried one (would like to).

Good luck!

It's nice to have both, especially combined with amps that make each one shine. Allows a lot of versatility.

I started out with a Fender Blues Jr and it's a great amp but I ended up switching to an Egnater Tweaker 15W. It sounds great and you can really get a big range of sounds from it. I am not very good with the electric and wanted to be able to play a broad range of music (blues, classic rock, modern rock, etc.) and the Egnater is perfect for that.
