Yes, we all make dumb moves sometimes..............so, get another one!!! The Reissues are very nice amps. The best of the Fender reissues IMO.

True ... back in the mid-eighties, after a few years of marriage, I sold off all my electric instruments and equipment (I don't have the heart to rehearse the specific items). But, in the last 2 years, I have been able to re-acquire some good replacements ... so I'm not looking back (at least until I see threads like this)

Are there any new amps out there that could fill the Vibro
Champ void?

Bugera?
Blackstar?

I would much rather have a Princeton Reverb Reissue.

You will be giving up the old school tube amp construction that makes the black and silverface amps:

A. Pro level equipment built to last 100 years.

B. So easily repaired which is the secret to them lasting 100 years, or as long as tubes are available.

Before doing anything like that I would take a chance on a handwired replica from Ebay. Because again, anything they did wrong is soooooo easy to fix. Here's an example http://www.ebay.com/itm/5e3-Tweed-De...#ht_500wt_1305

You guys are right. If I want the sound I've gotta go with the
amps that have it. I'll keep an eye on some Princeton's, Vibro Champs or
the like...........

FWIW I use a Mesa Boogie Studio .22 Plus for recording. It ranges from super clean to some nice saturated over drive and a nice spring reverb. The tone/eq controls work very well and has the addition of a master volume to control the gain at lower volume and a presence control that enhances the highs. Great little amp that is good enough to gig with too. Also has an effects loop if you want to record with your time based effects like I do.

Another vote here for a nice Princeton Reverb Amp; mine is an early '70s with a nice old Celestion G12M-70 in it.

I have a Skylark GA-5T as well and tend to prefer it over my 65 Vibrochamp and 69 Champ. These are great little underrated amps!

Check out Morgan PR12 or Tone King Metropolitan (the power scaling on the TK is awesome in addition to two channels and verb).

1984 Fender Super Champ.
18 watts of pure tube bliss.
Preamp tube: 7025 ((low-noise 12AX7)
Power tube: 2 x 6V6GT
Reverb driver: 12AT7
Phase Inverter: 6C10
Original two-button footswitch
Speaker: 10" Eminence or EV
Width: 17.25"
Height: 14"
Depth: 8.5"
Weight: 28 lbs.
Pricey these days but worth it, IMHO. Designed by Paul Rivera Sr. and Ed Jahns. Among the last of the point-to-point, hand-wired Fender amps.
