Bluesy sound: cheap lams
I've read a couple related threads but wanted to outright ask:
Am I the only one who has a cheap laminate and thinks it sounds killer for the blues? I've played $3k Martins, '35 Gibson L-00, etc......and they sound KILLER and I'd love to have every sinlge one of them and will likely buy a few befroe I leave this place..... but every time I pick up a cheap lam, hit the 'ol E7/A7/B7 chug and a few of my favorite licks I think it's just got that authentic?/soulful?/run what ya brung? feel to it. Almost like making something pretty out of something ugly......like almost more authentic b/c it's cheap and back in the day they played anything they could. Does anyone else get that same feeling? Hear those same things? Or am I just being a noob? PS......I've tried to account for any type of biase toward wanting it to sound that way or being in love w a certain guitar..... |

no you are becoming a musician . letting your ear and hands decide rather than a brand name.

I've been playing the blues for about 3 weeks straight now on my cheapest steel string. (Also the smallest). It has the right sound for it.
