The Oilers are the only team that could manage to ruin McDavid's career by drafting him. They're a losing club with a losing culture. It's been so long since they've had any success that many of the players on the team simply don't know what it's like to be on a well-functioning, winning team.

They need some veterans with strong leadership skills to mentor all the young talent they have. McDavid's development would be stunted on the Oilers - he'd still be great, but it would take longer to get there.

Change in Edmonton needs to start with the GM. I agree, they need a great veteran with strong leadership skills that can lead vocally and by example on the ice. The young guns for Edmonton need to start playing with more heart, which means more effort on the ice.

I agree.

My friend joked that to light a fire and get the club going is to trade Joey.

I asked him "You want to watch the city burn??"

Not sure where they need to start but they have to do something drastic.

Joey ... is that the same Joey (mentally challenged) that was there in the Gretzky years??? He's still there?

That's him! I remember reading about him just after the Gretzky trade. He was so upset. Great guy.

I never heard about Joey Moss before. Very cool story!! The Oilers have plenty of problems as an organization but it's clear Joey isn't one of them.

By the way, thank you for releasing David Perron to the custody of my favorite team, the Pens. He had two goals and an assist tonight in a 7-2 win against the Wild.

Way to go Perron. Crosby had 3 assists.

Bruins win again! 4 in a row.

I was watching the Pens vs Wild game and saw highlights of the Lightning vs Bruins game through 2 periods. Saw Stamkos had a couple of goals for the Lightning and Marchand had an amazing goal from a tough angle and the Bruins were ahead 3-2. What happened in the 3rd?

What Happened in the third? The Bolts came up short. They haven't won in Boston since 2010. Tough two game road trip for the Lightning. They need a Red Cross plane to get them back here.

I'm going to see the Lightning play Dagobert's Oilers tomorrow night. They may get to take the bag off for a night. At least we have a few point cushion to lick our wounds.

Stamkos moving toward the top of the board! #25

It's about time!.

How about David Pastrnak. He's 18 years old and has played 8 games in the NHL. He scored 2 goals in each of the past 2 games. The Bruins need to determine whether to keep him (and use up that 1st year contract) or send him down. I think he'll be sent down for further development.

That guy looks fantastic. Reminds me a bit of Malkin with his confidence and puck handling ability. I think they need him. I don't think they win the last several games without him. Either way, what a talent.
