Jmo, but the Twain and Dion should stay in the closet, anywhere in the world . Some 'Blue Rodeo' tunes would go over well. I play a few of their songs…"Hasn't Me Hit Yet", "Lost Together", "Bad Timing". I'd like to learn "Try" as well.

Believe it or not, some of the old classic "religious/gospel" songs really put the paper in the case. You'll never walk alone, peace in the valley, amazing grace...

I'm a solo busker in Queensland Australia, and here are some of the ones I do:
Heartful of soul (Yardbirds) Another day (Cure) Cuz I luv u (Slade) Drinkin' muddy water/rollin and tumblin (Yardbirds/Cream) Friend of the devil (lyle lovett) Gimme some lovin' (Spencer Davis group) Help, I saw her standin there (Beatles) Keep searchin' (Del Shannon) Old man at the mill (ian matthews) Still in love with you (Dragon) Shake your moneymaker (Fleetwood Mac) Message to my girl (Crowded House) If I were a carpenter (Four Tops) I know you rider (Grateful Dead) Mad World (Gary Jules) Chimes of Freedom (Dylan) Are you experienced and Voodoo Child slight return (Hendrix) When the levee breaks (Led Zeppelin) Come up and see me (Steve Harley) She's the one and I thought you were a spy (World Party) In bloom (nirvana) Losin my religion (REM) Pancho and Lefty (Townes Van Zandt) Rider in the rain (Randy Newman) Get it on (T Rex) I'm just reviewing my busking songs and am also looking for new songs to add to my repertoire. I am also an original songwriter so I try and mix in about a third original songs. Hope these suggestions help. If you're interested, I have some covers and original songs on youtube under my real name, michael backhouse. http://www.youtube.com/user/michaelbackhouse |

Play what you're most comfortable playing, but really mix up the genres.
Also, don't be "generic acoustic guitar guy" - there are so many predictable songs when you see a guy with an acoustic guitar. Be different, that's what it's all about.

Ignore all the other previous (tasteless and hackneyed ) suggestions .... and stick to-
"Crazy" . Gnarls Barclay "Hot Stuff". Donna Summer "I Will Survive" . Gloria Gaynor. (done in the style of Bob Dylan, obviously..) "Walk This Way". Aerosmith, Run DMC and Hayseed Dixie " I'm a Believer" The Cheeky Monkeys Always finish with "Ace of Spades", (Motorhead) Crowd pleasers,,, every one. Always leave them wanting more... Mine appears to be a little different. Generation thing I guess...
• Here I Go Again - Whitesnake • Baby One More Time - Britney Spears (Don't laugh, I have more fun with this one and get more response than any of them.) • Hey Ya - Matt Weddle version • Holes to Heaven acoustic - Jack Johnson • Cat’s in the cradle - Harry Chapin Carpenter • Africa - Toto • Time of Your Life - Green Day • Creep - Radiohead • Just What I Needed - The Cars • Pink Houses - John Cougar Mellencamp • Can’t You See - Marshall Tucker Band |
