Default R.I.P. to my good buddy...

A long time friend and fellow musician, Ricky Ybarra died suddenly yesterday after just knowing for a few weeks that he had cancer. I'm in shock.. 57 years old.

Life is so short. Ugh..

Here's a video of him singing. Such a nice unique voice. Ricky is on the left.

The two in the video are my friends Ricky Ybarra and Mike Pagano. They both have unique voices that I think blended really well.

He had a great voice. Thanks for sharing a memory of your friend. I'm glad he was part of your life, especially the musical part of your life.

Reminds me of my friend Pete about twenty years ago. We were shooting and guitar playing buddies. He moved to Central California to take a job and we did not see each other weekly any more. After not talking for 3-4 months, I called his work to chat and they informed me that Pete was diagnosed with advanced leukemia and had passed away six weeks later at age 40. I missed talking to him by about three weeks. It happened so fast there wasn't much time to reach out to friends.

That it all happened so fast is the only ray of sunshine in the whole episode. My condolences. The "C" work (cancer) just sucks......

I am sorry for your loss. Friends are in limited supply. Live your life fully every day. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend when he died aged 56, as we were both looking forward to a retirement of beer and guitars.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. As a cancer survivor, I'd say Ricky was blessed. He was spared the false hope and physical ordeal that would have likely transpired. I'm cancer free, and have been for years, but believe me when I say that I thought about these things ... a lot. There's a growing awareness among patients and physicians that "going the last mile" is often made more difficult rather then less by well-meaning but futile measures when the true prognosis is grave.
