1893 Martin 1-21 12 fret Parlor Guitar
Guitar is no longer available Thank you.
This guitar needs a neck reset to be easily playable. I have for sale, a late 1800's Martin 1-21 Parlor guitar built between 1869-1883 . All original with the exception of the bridge pins and diamond volute removed and modified. There are 2 top cracks and 1 crack on rear bout that were professionally repaired . The back is immaculate brazillian rosewood with no cracks and only superficial scratches. This was an attempt for me to get into an antique martin and I dont think it is something I am going to pursue. The bridge has been slotted and has non slotted ebony bridge pins installed. It sounds very clear and loud and is strung with silk and steel strings. Model: 1-21 style Type: 1 parlor Top: Red spruce Back and sides: Brazilian rosewood Neck: Cedar Total length: 37 3/4 Body length: 18 7/8 Upper bout: 9 1/4 Lower bout 12 3/4 Depth upper bout: 3 3/8 Depth lower bout: 4 3/16 Bridge:Ebony Binding: Rosewood Rosette: Herringbone Backstrip: Herringbone Purfling: Line Headstock: Rosewood Scale Length: 24.9” Nut width: 1 7/8” Twelfth fret width:2 5/16” I would be delighted to sell this for $2500 +shipping and paypal fees and would entertain trades for an OM, 00, 000 with a Modified V neck or full thickness neck. Pictures can be viewed here http://s1249.photobucket.com/user/ri.../Martin%201-21 Pm or email [email protected] with any questions. Thank you. Last edited by ripdotcom; 06-26-2017 at 11:09 AM. |

It's hard to be sure but those pictures look like the headstock was broken off and re-attached, not just the volute mysteriously replaced. Is that accurate?

I suppose the head stock painted black confirms that there must have been some separation if not all. There may be other issues this guitar has that i am simply unaware of. |
