Default My new homemade isolation panel for recording..

I made my own isolation panel out of a office floor mat and some material I found at the thrift store. The whole project came in at under $25 bucks and a couple hours labor. The mat is made of 1/4" x 2" slats of wood held together with a cloth backing. I put the blue lining in to help soak up sound...I tried playing the D-35 in this and it sounded great...I think this will be great for recording. Another thing, it can be rolled up and put away for storage when not in use. The blue lining is held in place with two way duct tape. The edges are trimmed with black duct tape. Because it's made of 2" wide slats, it can be angled any way you want.

If you like the sound of this, and it seems you have greatly liked the sound of all the other things you have purchased and tried, then that is what counts.

Yes I do like the sound of this and the other one I also have. You have to remember I have a small place in which to work in...this guy works perfectly for my needs.

If you go back thru the history of recording, you'll find all kinds of jerry-rigged things that people put together to solve their immediate needs. Even Les Paul was always tinkering to make his own recordings. In fact he put together a four channel recording device, which was unheard of at the time....wasn't it Thomas Edison that made the first recording on a wax cylinder ?? I like to try innovative things. Sorry if it doesn't impress you, but where is it written I must always buy the most expensive professional items ??

In my music production class I took, we were instructed to do unusual things, be creative, and do whatever works.

Very nice unit.....love the ability to have it so portable! Here's my little "booth".....and not nearly as portable, believe me! Just instrumentals, with condenser mics.
Looks like this unit will enhance the fun!

If you are going to put something that close to the mikes you should use a more broadband absorber barrier - just saying.

I agree. For vocals, it's probably fine, but for acoustic guitar, the highs may get absorbed somewhat, but the lows and mid-lows are going to bounce back and muddy up the sound.
I have 2'x4'x4" (rockwool) traps hung on the walls in places, and can take them down and make a 'V' to put behind the mic.

It looks pretty, though!
