Default One Of Us

Dan Holloway's arrangement of this tune.

I just downloaded the tab from here: http://www.dancholloway.com/trial/

I've played it a total 4 times (including a total of 3 recordings due to my son's puppy running around our house with a squeeze toy in his mouth, lol). Two page tunes are hard to find and are like gold to me.

Hi Barry,

Thanks for the post, sounds great, and that is a good looking TAB he puts out.

I may have to check out Dan's site....I'm enjoying learning how to fingerpick on country blues, but my poor wife thinks they all sound the same

Thanks Bob!

What are some of the country blues tunes you're learning?

Hi Barry,

I am at what I would call level 1 on country blues....a lot of simple arrangements of Mississippi John Hurt's songs and a few others....Freight Train, Oh Susannah, You are My Sunshine, My Creole Bell, I Shall Not Be Moved, Louis Collins, Do Lord Remember Me, Sugar Babe, Stagolee, Railroad Bill, Spike Driver Blues, C. C. Rider, etc. Great stuff!

The Woody Mann book you told me about is on the corner of my desk, I hope to improve enough to dig into it soon. In the meantime I'm sure my wife will appreciate it if I learn a few pop tunes, so thanks for the heads up on Dan's site!

The first song in that Woody Mann book isn't the easiest one the book. Flip through it to find one to start with. Thanks for the song suggestions, I'm going to look into them.

That is good to know, Barry, as I spent months on the first one!

Many of the Hurt songs I found in a recent book by Valerie Turner. The arrangements are pretty simple and she has downloadable recordings of them. She studied with Woody and John Cephas and is a performing artist, too. http://www.piedmontbluz.com/

Tom Feldman has some free videos on the web. CC Rider and Do Lord and maybe some others. I think he is a great player and teacher on the style of Stephan Grossman. And you can buy his lessons on Stephan's website. Good stuff.

Thanks Bob!

I can't take credit for Holloway's website, another member pointed it out.
