Default Anybody Ever Play For a Girl on a Date?

I did. On a first date - what an idiot. I wanted to show her that I did this a lot and if she was going to get involved with me this was part of who I am. She could expect plenty of it. My previous girlfriend had absolutely no use for any guitar or singing stuff and got seriously annoyed when ever I played, so I wanted to be up front about it. However, the new girl told me later that this was when she decided she was going to marry me. Like thirty five years later.

I've done that before. The relationship didn't quite work out, but the playing seemed to be successful.

Numerously with uniformly good results.

I would never do that on the first date. I want to get to know the girl and let her get to know me. First dates are just to see if Chemistry and some sparks start or not.

Given my playing skills (or lack there of), there would certainly be no second date.

Sweet story..... I hope she is still supportive! I still get the "Why is it again that you need more than one guitar?....You can only play one at a time."
My response... "That's why....I can only play one at a time!" No it really doesn't make sense but that's always been the answer.
Congrats on the 35 years btw!

In Spring of 97, I played and sang for this girl in my dorm room at college the first time we spent any time together. The following spring, I played and sang to her and pulled a ring out of the case. Summer of 99 had an audio recording of me playing and singing for our wedding. (Didn't know if I could hold it together to do it in person)

I'm still playing and singing for her. She has given meaning to all of these songs I've learned throughout the years. She really has no interest in guitars like I do, but she understands it is a part of who I am. I just hope she stays as understanding throughout the rest of our years!

Guess I should probably add that I hesitated the first time I sang for her. I only did it because she asked me to, and I was kind of hoping to see her again!

Why hide something you love from someone you care about or are interested in ?
I also say - make sure she can cook -

I think it's goofy to do it on any date, but we'd known each other from work for a long time, so some of the preliminaries were out of the way. But still - what an idiot!

When I was younger I used to play at a lot of friend's parties when people got good and liquored up and, typically, I'd have a girlfriend with me. They always thought it was pretty cool. My wife heard me play at one such party. We've been together for 32 years now. But she's always told me that I can't sing very well. Never said I can't play though.

Played some James Brown on a twelve string in the park for a girl once
And we've been married for twenty years now. My advice; skip the romantic songs and make it funky.

Rick James is also a good choice.
