Default Great deal on an external condenser....

I just got a pair of these yesterday - just got done putting one through it's paces (through the PA) and I must say I'm quite impressed (and that's hard to do!). Very hot little mic - a little on the bright side but that's easily remedied. Seems to be pretty feedback resistant too. Nice shock mounts and extra rubbers come with it. I got the Onstage MY700 stereo bar as well (which is also very nice) - may be the best 80 bucks I've ever spent! Hard to go wrong for 60 bucks a pair!

Were it any but just a few other folks, I wouldn't believe it possible for two condenser mics to sound good at that price. As it is, wow.

I haven't doubled them up yet through the PA - I monitored them through the recording deck that way and it seemed pretty nice (although I didn't actually lay any tracks down)

I've got an extra mic cable on the way (I'd run out - LOL) So I'll know more soon....

A while back, I made samples of all my mics to compare them with each other. The MXL 603s mics did really well in this test, much better than expected, and they too were very inexpensive.

I have about a half dozen of those two of which have the Joly mods. Man what great mics.

Todd, how do these compare to the AKG C451B?

just seeing this Bob - it's been SO long since I've had a 451 here it's hard to say (plus my equipment has changed since then) If I had to wager a good guess I'd have to say pretty favorably.

Want me to loan one to you for a while?

Nah, but thank you very much. I just try to keep an eye on the market so that when people ask me what mic they can get for low bucks I can respond.
