Does anyone have experience with the rainsong shorty and the kevin michael touring? How would you compare the two?

Full disclosure I have a shorty for sale, but I will try and keep that from biasing my review. I like the guitar and the only reason I'm selling it is because I've been focusing exclusively on 5th tuned instruments and selling off all of the six strings guitars to fund other purchases.

When I first got the shorty I was immediately struck by how much of a wood like sound it had. My previous experience with CF guitars was with the Composite Acoustic Cargo which I thought sounded a little plasticy. In contrast the Shorty, I thought had a sound reminicent of a mahogany guitar like the Martin 000-15. I cannot comment on the electronics in the guitar as I've always played it acoustic only. However, the reviews of the electronics have been positive.

I considered the KM touring, but I liked the prices on the RS better.

In general, I like the Rainsongs with the Unidirectional tops the best. Even the full weave CF instruments are less bright than Taylors though.

I think everyone's ear is different. I own some Blackbirds, Rainsongs and a Cargo. I am happiest when playing my Blackbirds although I have to give a shout out to the Rainsong Parlor P12.

H-WS1x00N2 or H-DR1x00N2 IMHO.

I like Elixir Polyweb strings (just resumed using them after several years of playing a T5z) and the RainSongs seem like a perfect fit to the bit of brightness that thicker coating takes away.

Only had and played Rainsongs before my Emerald Artisan. The Emerald not only sounds beautiful and plays beautifully, it's also way more comfortable to play with slopped sides on the body. The Rainsongs DUG into my ribs and chest, and was the most uncomfortable guitars for me to play. The Emerald is **** near perfect.
