Default Applegate nylon crossover

While I was waiting for my BRW/Cedar Applegate build to be completed, I stumbled across one of Brian's Classical models. This will be my third of Brian's guitars, and my first nylon since I was a kid. I'm looking forward to playing it!

It is Italian Spruce over Myrtlewood with Brian's signature interlocking diamond rosette. Spanish Cedar 5 piece neck with an Ebony head stock veneer front and back. Scale is 660mm with a 50mm nut.

I'll have to check with Brian to be certain, but I believe it's rosewood.

Thanks. It does look a lot like ziricote.

I have a guitar with Ziricote back and sides, and agree that the spider web pattern looks similar when you see it on Z and BRW.

A friend of mine has a custom Bourgeois with a ziricote headplate that looks remarkably like that bridge's wood, and I have to Martin Keith basses with ziricote fingerboards that are similar, and gorgeous, I might add.

Guitar arrived today, and is even better in-hand. The tone is amazing, like a slightly deeper and mellowed steel string, not the rubber-bandy tone I remember from nylon guitars when I was a kid. This is going to be a ton of fun to noodle around on.

A few quick, candid iPhone pics...

That's one of the prettiest myrtle guitars I've ever seen. Is it a full 2" flat fingerboard, or more of a crossover neck?

Thanks for the kind words. The Myrtlewood is simply amazing. I hadn't necessarily intended to keep this long term; it was just too good of a deal to pass up.

Now, I'm considering keeping it!

As to the neck, it's a little of both. It's 50mm at the nut, so wider than a typical steel string, but it has a slight radius too. Seems like a good compromise. I'm not a great player, and most of my guitars are 1 11/16" or 1 3/4" nut, but I didn't have any problem playing it. I even spent some time playing cowboy chord strum along with my 9yo boy, who's learning guitar, last night.
