Default Customs Charge on my Emerald??

Good news: postman just delivered my X-20.
Surprising news: postman needed $98.65 for duty fee.

Is that right? I haven’t seen anyone else in here mention they paid a fee and somewhere I got the notion there wouldn’t be one.

Did I just fund my postman’s trip to the casino?

I've purchased 2 Emeralds, didn't have to pay any postage or duty. That doesn't sound right.

I've bought 3 Emeralds in the last year & 1/2 and did not have to pay anything like that.

Something is wrong. Both of my Emerald purchases had no Customs fees, including the one that went back to Ireland. You probably had no choice but to pay the ransom in order to get your guitar, but I would be down talking to the local postmaster today. Someone checked the wrong box on a form, or some bureaucratic nonsense like that.

Well, crap. No doubt I’m about to go through bureaucracy hell.

Good news is, the guitar is in perfect condition.

Let us know what you learn... I didn't have to pay any charge last summer when my X-7 was delivered. But congratulations on the new 20!

Could your incurred duty charge be a result of a renegotiated trade policy that may have recently gone into effect?

I’ve taken delivery of Emerald guitars both at my primary residence in Canada, and my winter vacation home in SW Florida. I’ve never had to pay any taxes or customs fees. Like others have stated, something must be wrong. Hopefully you’ll get it resolved. Looking forward to the reveal and your thoughts about your new X20!

I've had 4 Emeralds delivered without duty fees. Maybe you have a crafty postman?

There are customs forms affixed to the box. They describe both the fees and the appeals process. I have to include my rationale why fees don’t apply, so I’ve already written Sean for help with that.

BTW, the guitar is fantastic!!!

It’s nice to have a guitar for my “music corner” during these cold, dry winter months.

Congratulations on the guitar.

I have 3 Emeralds and didn't have to pay any Custom's fee or taxes on any of them.

An all carbon fiber guitar hangin’ around in so much beautiful wood. Heresy, I tell ya!

Beautiful X20. I hope you’ll post close-ups. Beautiful home...love the texture of the floors.
