Default Experience with Feedback Suppressors

Can someone school me on feedback suppressors (e.g., Harman dbx http://dbxpro.com/en-US/product_fami...ck-suppression? Do they work well? Negative impact on overall sound quality? Thanks.

I use a number of Sabine 2400's in specific applications. I find they work very well when connected between the amp and mixer but not as well when used as a channel insert. I cannot speak to other brands other than Behringer which were useless.

Default DBX Gorack

Picked up one of these for $29 from Sweetwater. Great rig. Has 11 bands of auto feedback suppression along with variable compression, 16 pre set eq curves and a mute switch. I use it in an acoustic duo between my small mixer and powered EV tops. Works very well and only 2 pounds. I throw it in my mixer bag. You literally can point the mic directly at the speaker and no feedback.

Did you mean to insert a link? I'd like to check out the unit you describe.

Same here. I would love to hear about a low cost feedback suppressor that's been tested and works well.

I'm thinking this must be the Dbx GoRack, which came up in another thread. Hope so, cuz I just ordered one.

Yep that's the one. I just used one of mine in my live stage monitor system, which is a Carvin HD900 power amp into Carvin 10" wedges, running off the sub outputs from a Behringer X2222.

I was running a bit late and had some complaints from the nice folks at the Elks CLub when I "pinked" the mains with the DriverackPA unit in the FOH (I wonder what they would have said if I had to ring out the room in more conventional fashion!). I have another one of those for the monitors, but instead I just stuck the little GoRack in there, set it up with it's very simple menu and played our New Years Eve gig (4 sets) with it that night.

Great clarity & headroom, no feedback...four piece band with drums, 2 guitars and bass, 3 vocal mikes...classic rock material and, uh...we're pretty loud
