Default Fender California Series Acoustics

http://click2.fender.com/u/nrd.php?p...733_736314_1_2

Just released today. How fun are these? I can't get enough of them. Funky colorways and the ubiquitous Fender headstock. How can you not love these. Great pricing even for the all wood models. I want one in every color!

To each his own but I think Fender should stick to what they're good at, electric guitars and amps, and just forget the acoustic side all together.

I have a couple of the older Fender Acoustics, at least 15 years old. They play and sound great. Have played many a dance and gig with them. Never let me down, and can't ever remember anyone saying get off the stage because I was playing a Fender acoustic. Sometimes we put to much stock into the name on the headstock, instead of the music coming out.

I love ‘em. The design cues from Fender acoustics of the past are cool.

Here’s my Korean built Fender “La Brea” , circa 1980 somethin’ (?) This was my very BEST guitar for years,
(before joining this forum and learning I obviously needed Martins, Taylors and lately Emeralds.)

Good solid guitar . Possibly all ply , it sounds exactly like a guitar, despite the one rotten tooth it’s well set-up and plays fine ,
nice Strattish neck on it, quite chunky, but maybe too narrow for the new super-size people of today who now need at least a 1.3/4 nut.

I'm somewhat in the same camp...excellent electrics, mediocre acoustics...IMO...

I've never tried a Fender acoustic, older or new model that I'd consider owning...I just don't see, feel, or hear the quality I personally want in a good acoustic guitar...

And the Fisher-Price colors, regardless of brand, just look silly to me...

As always, just my personal opinion, and the usual disclaimers all apply...

I have a Fender DG-8S and it sounds great. (...and I do/have had Martins and Taylors) I just put a bone saddle in a Fender Parlor on Sunday and it sounds terrific. I will put one in my DG-8S in the next couple of days since that one turned out so well. If you are walking past Fender acoustics because of the name, you should try them out.

Makes you want to be on the beach in Southern California strumming with girls all around you.

One of the things I dig about most acoustics is how great the wood looks in its natural state. There's a Yamaha LL6 at a shop near me that I've debated internally about buying but its black finish just kind of turns me off.

These Fenders look cool, but they'd be cooler if I wasn't reading "painted spruce top" in their description.

Somebody gets it. Not every guitar offered to the public has to be a work of art, a masterpiece born of wood or a technological wonder.

When I was shopping around for an inexpensive a/e several years ago, I liked the feel of the Sonoran, the neck felt good and the wine red color was nice, but I didn't like the pickguard design or color, and I also thought the sound was better on the CD140sce, which was $100 cheaper. Then I read (online) that the maple necks they were using on the Sonoran (and similar) guitars had a twisting problem 6 months down the road.

I had a Fender acoustic for over 20 years. If I didn't have shoulder problems it would likely be my only guitar at this time. If you get the chance, play one and make your own decision. You may like it, or not.

My little all-sapele PM-2 is a nice guitar, so I'm a Fender fan. Can't wait to try one of these out when I find one in a store.
