Default Martin SPD16R

While visiting my local music store I was informed they were clearing out thier Martin stock without plans to carry them any longer so I started nosin around. I ran across this SPD16R that felt very comfy in my hands and had a unique sound, and as fate happens, I took her home. (worked out a trade with them )
She has no cut away and no electrics, but is awfull dang loud all by herself. Anyone else have one of these or am I one of the few to not get a "normal martin"? ie., D18 D28 and so on....

If by "normal" you mean "standard", then no, it's not standard. Biggest difference is the mortise/tenon neck joint (similar to Taylor pre- "NT"), as opposed to the dovetail on their standards. There is also a modified bracing pattern (which I believe is better). The sound is about the same, and construction is great.

What you have is a

SP ecial edition
D readnaught
16 series in
R osewood

A really good value, and an excellent guitar. The "special" part would be nice aesthetic touches - if I remember, extra inlay, gloss finish on the back and sides. Congratulations - Enjoy!

The Martin SPD series are great guitars. One of the the best kept "secrets" around. You will enjoy your Martin. It is a great value for the money.
