Default Can you safely stain rosewoods necks(Light to Dark), not for my 815, but for my STRAT

Not a Taylor question, because it(815ce) is perfect.(well close)

One of my Fender CS Strats has a light colored rosewood neck, I would like it to be much darker(in color)(I can't afford a $20K vintage strat so I am trying to give my 60's strat a bit more vintage vibe)
It has "clay" dot inlays and a slab fretboard, is there a dye/stain/oil that is safe to use?

Some pro's I have asked keep coming back with "Lemon Oil" and one came back with "Olde English" furniture polish

I guess I may have to live with the current color, because the tone is right on at the moment (nice wood condition) and I am afraid that putting on some oils will affect the resonanance

Once again, not for my Taylor,

Thanks for any input my Brethren

Just play it after changing the oil in your car But really while Id leave it alone its as easy as sannding the neck down finding a suitanble color and wipeing it with the stain. the stain absorbs into the wood and just let it dry. But I have to ask this are you going to stain the fretboard? My best advice would be leave it alone. A 60s strat is pretty cool and modifications ruins what value it already has. JW

If it's a 60's strat it's best to leave it alone. A little boiled linseed oil rubbed in with 0000 steel wool will darken it some and not hurt anything.

Man, I sure wouldn't mess with that guitar. If you want it darker, turn off the light.
