My wife and I stayed at an inn in Mendocino last weekend, built all out of redwood from old growth trees that had been submerged in silt at the mouth of a river for decades. All of the paneling and woodwork were dark ruby red. I kept thinking what a beautiful guitar top could be made from that wood.

Taken all together, probably the set of redwood lawn furniture would be more expensive.

I really do like the grain patterns in redwood and it DID actually remind me of that redwood furniture my folks had 40 years ago. At least with the guitar you don''t have to put that awful "redwood stain" (it was paint if you ask me) on it every spring!

There is a part of me that wishes I'd ordered a redwood top, ziricote sides, 3-pc cocobolo & maple-backed 915 or something wilder at Taylorstock. But I decided to go "classic" with my 810-LTD.
