After about 2 to 3 weeks, this is where I am with The Entertainer. It starts about 22 seconds in as I was ahead of GP in the beginning and had to slow down and wait for it, so I decided to chop it out for this purpose.

I have the other section to learn, then it just repeats more or less. I am playing along with GuitarPro which I use as a tab viewer/teleprompter/metronome,

Long way to go before it sounds musical (and I'm not sure if I can ever get it to sound good enough for "Show and Tell":

Played the intro from memory again last night and then watched the lesson for section A. Section A doesn't look that bad. Kind of brutal but not impossible.

Saturday is my day off guitar (but I did setup/teardown a PA today and also went to the music store!) so back at it tomorrow.

Barry I recorded a version of The Entertainer a while back if you want to hear a different arrangement:

Thanks Doug. I will use this for a cross reference. I like that arrangement, where did you find it?

Here's where I am with another tune on my list, Windy and Warm. I had started this a while ago, but with a different arrangement. This is Doc Watson's version which is good too. I have two more parts to learn and then get the whole tune better. So right now its sort of a slight breeze and cool,

Update: I had about 45 minutes to spare after practice and before bed so I played the intro through and then started section A. Made it about 4 bars. Yikes it's tough stuff. Crazy three string barre with my pinky (B, G and D strings) while fretting the low E with the index. But I did play the 4 bars from memory cleanly so I just said that's good enough I'm going to bed. At 44 I'm still trying to learn when to quit while I'm ahead.

So I put in about 1.25 hours last night on section A. Still tough going but I have the first half under my fingers. I couldn't play it all the way through at speed though. I'll keep working on that tonight and try to memorize it. And luckily the second half of section A is just a repeat of the first half with a slightly different ending.

2 hours of trying to play the intro and all of section A together from memory last night. Couldn't get it together. Ugh. I think I may be biting off more than I can chew and I may have to break it into smaller sections first. I'll try again tonight and revise if necessary.

So here's where I am with Luttrel...

A long way to go, but believe it or not, I've come a long way on it already

Again, I'm playing along with GuitarPro. This is at 80 bpm. I started at 50 a few weeks ago. I know it sounds brutal, but it will pay off. In another year I should sound pretty good with it.
