I own 2 of the guitars mentioned in this thread: an RK rp1-626, and a early Larrivee parlor (no model on the label, but it's a P-01).
The Larrivee is clearly better to my ears. Much more responsive. It is a joy to play. The RK sounds kind of dead. Maybe I just got a dud...in fact, I think I did. |

Simon and Patrick Woodland Pro is quite a bit under $1000.
Great sounding and looking guitar.

Eastman E10P, no question... fantastic tone and build and wood selection with one of the best necks I have ever held.

Is the RP-626 considered a parlor? Nice guitar, but isn't it a 00? I guess it depends on how you define parlor. EDIT: I stand corrected, I see there is a 0 version as well.
Anyway - I have a Recording King RP-10 and it's a great little guitar, and way under $1K. I really like Eastman's small bodied guitars too so I suspect the Eastman RP-10 mentioned would be great, although I haven't tried that particular model.

VintageParlorGuitars.com
At any given time, I'd say it is something out of Steve's inventory at VintageParlorGuitars.com. Looking over his current listings, I like this 1930s Regal 0-12.
Steve does excellent set-up work on the guitars he sells. A vintage guitar from Steve will have a unique combination of the benefits of a vintage guitar, with the playability of a modern guitar. Highly recommended. steve-regal.jpg

Parlor guitar--Art & Lutherie
The Roadhouse parlor from Art & Lutherie, made by the folks at Godin. These parlors clock in at $400 without electronics. I own one, and I play it a lot. Good materials, tone, and playability.

Another vote for a Larrivee Parlor. Can’t touch the value and craftsmanship.

I'm not sure if its classified as a parlor, but the place i go to has a used 00-15 right around that 1k mark. Perfect for some finger picking blues. Not so perfect for my wallet.
