Default New Series on PBS.."Prime Suspect"

PBS-Mystery has revived the old "Prime Suspect" series that featured Helen Mirren as detective Jane Tennison.

The new series goes back to the beginning of Jane's career and is set in early 70's London. They've done a pretty good job of selecting locations, getting a large number of period cars, etc to replicate the era. They have also infused the storylines with music of the era, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Steve Winwood and more.

The series will follow the investigation of the murder of a young girl over several episodes. Watched the first yesterday and it was quite good. Airs around here Sunday nights at 10pm.

I enjoyed the first episode also. The Brits know how to do TV.

I'm a big fan of the original series and enjoyed the first episode of the new launch. It was well done & I look forward to seeing this series unfold.

I liked the original, 'fraid I thought this was poor. They always seem to overdo the period references .

I have a theory that one reason for returning to the 70's and 80's in film and TV drama is to take today's ubiquitous comms out of the plot, (while still having fast cars) , as the use of a cell phone would instantly solve a lot of the perilous situations .

Heard it was good. Never saw it.
(My laziness sometimes even extends to not bothering to watch lots of popular TV series)

TBH, I only saw the first episode of the new Prime Sus , didn't grab me enough to make a date.
