Emerald X20: PB or 80/20 strings?
I think the X20 artisans come with D'Addario 80/20 strings. At least that's what the enclosed hang tag that came with it specifies.
Question: Are these light gauge? Do you prefer the 80/20s or have you found you like PB better? Thanks for any feedback!

They are the light gauge, if I remember correctly they measured 12-53. I liked the sound of the 80/20's fine, but they were hard on the fingers, I put on PB and I like them too, I'll stick with the PB, but if you like a brighter livelier sound, try the 80/20's. Personal preference I guess.

I am currently using Elixir PB lights and like the sound better than I liked the 80/20 D'addario's.

My Emerald is either strung with EXP-16s or EJ-16s.
Either way Phosphor bronze lights (12s)

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to try the PB next. (either D'Addario PB lights or Elixir nanoweb HD PB lights)

I've tried several strings so far and...
...think I'm near to finding my favorites.
I'm the happy owner of a X-20 Woody teardrop mahogany since April. I didn't like the feel of the D'Addarios she was delivered with. Sound was fine if not what what I got the right "feel" for. Switched to Elixir PB 12-53. Liked the feel and I liked the sound probably partly due to the fact that I use them on my other guitar. Loosened them once to removed saddle and shaved it down about 0.8 millimeters to get the action where I wanted it. Strings didn't cut the mustard after retuning. Switched to Thomastik-Infeld spectrum 11-50 which are somewhat different since the E is round wound A-G flat wound. Great finger feel, somewhat subdued but nice sounding. Then I put on a set of Newtone Masterclass double wound 11-50. Fantastic feel and sound. I will be trying a set of the same but up one size 12-52 when I get my hands on them. Since the wound strings have 2 winds of thinner wire they have a smooth feel and warm sound. Round cores give a bendiness I like and I think one size up will be the way I want to go. Don't know if this rambling helps so just a bit of input from my part
