Default Using Different Brands of Vinyl Sealer and Topcoat lacquer

I have almost a quart of Behlen Vinyl Sealer (nitro) that I got for use under their Stringed Instrument Lacquer. I’m thinking about making a switch and wondering if it would it be OK to use the Behlen Vinyl Sealer under another brand of nitro lacquer like Seagraves or Cardinal?

in theory you should be OK...in "theory"...

do a test panel, let it cure, hit it with a hammer and see what happens to the finish...try scraping at it with your thumb nail, see what happens...etc.

in general it's a good idea to use products from the same manufacturer on the assumption that "they" know what works with their line.

I used the remainder of my Behlens under Cardinal with no problems. I can't remember if it took 2 or 3 guitars to finish it up.
