Default Just for today (a modest affirmation) - original

A re-recording of an original I wrote/finalized earlier this year. I wrote this for when Life has me feeling beat up. Whose soft words I hear, I cannot say with any certainty.

Like cool rain falling on a lonely arid field
Your soft words soothe my burning soul
Because of you
I'm bound to make it through
For today
Just for today
Thanks to you

As I've grown older I have come now to believe
That God speaks softly in my dreams
Not in words
Or even whispers but
In a glimpse
Of splended realms
Of my imagining

When time is at rest
And the world is quiet
Will you believe
Can you conceive
Of this certainty

What's true or is not
Of Life's real meaning
Just for today
You'll be ok
I promise you

Very nice, Mark! Well done! Sounds very good! Really good balance between voice and guitar and good choice of reverb level!

Hey, thanks. I don't know if I'm getting better, but at least navigating around is becoming more familiar, and will get easier and better the more I do it. And I sense that a lot of this tends to be subjective. How much, too much, more of this, less of that. To say nothing of getting a reasonably good take. Trying to keep things simple for now, anyway. Recording is hard work for just being a hobby.

I have had no fewer than a half-dozen or so "What was I thinking" episodes after going back and listening to a previous mix.

Yes, it takes practice and practice requires a lot of time. But you are advancing fairly quickly from what I have observed. You are doing great!

The more of this you do, the better you will become. Some of it is learning the software and getting a good procedure down, and some of it is educating your mind and your ears while you constantly reevaluate your work and what you hear from others who are good at this. After a year of working at this you will go back and listen to your early stuff and realize how much you have improved!
