I have to agree with Buddiesorg. I've been generally unimpressed with Brazilian. Maybe I don't have as fine an ear, but East Indian rosewood, even the "lesser" grade on my 714, just rings sweetly and sustains forever.
Have to also put in a plug for Ovangkol. What a sleeper! Even though it is on a lower end model, I think it has a great tone and beautiful looks, esp. the on the newer 4xx's. Sure would like to see it in a gloss. Jay |

Jay, I'm a little confused. When have I ever said I was unimpressed with Brazilian? I have a bit of it (and a couple more on order now) ... and, yes, I voted for it. If I had to give up all but one guitar, I wouldn't be very happy, but the one I would keep is a Brazilian.
What I did say is that I've played some Brazilian that I wasn't impressed with ... and, of course, I didn't bring those home. And yes, I've played some Indian Rosewood that I loved ... and I brought some of those home. Of course, I've also played some Brazilian that knocked my socks off (and a couple of those came home with me) and Indian Rosewood that sounded just okay. |

IMHO-
Figured Koa is my personal favorite for aesthetics but - is second to Brazilian and Indian Rosewood for tone but- the quilted maple and tone of my new DDSM is incredible... Forget it- Im not picking favorites- I love them all! Perhaps I'll try playing a cocobolo to confuse matters further :^) |

I am relatively new to the guitar, but I am very impressed with my new 310-ce LTD (Imbuia). I may be partial, but it has a fuller sound than many of the upper end Taylors I have played. Just my thoughts so far... I am sure I will like my next Taylor better than the last!

I voted Brazilian, but I like most of them. Not as much a fan of mahogany, but I like Sapele. Koa is another favorite. The next Taylor? It will be Brazilian, hopefully.
