Default Carmel Short Scale Dread, Bearclaw Spruce and EIR

***Carmel has been sold, thanks for all of the interest!***

Howdy good people,

I received this guitar in a trade a few months ago, and it was everything I had hoped Carmel guitars would be. I had been wanting the Santa Cruz tone in a short scale dread, with a round neck profile, and 1-3/4" nut width and 2-1/4" string spacing at the saddle. This guitar delivered! If it was a mahogany dread, it wouldn't be going anywhere... if anyone has a mahogany Carmel dread and wants to trade, please do let me know!

For those who may be unfamiliar with Carmel Guitar Company, it's a collaboration between two former Santa Cruz luthiers, which is likely why they have the SCGC tone perfectly nailed

Here are the particulars:
HEAVILY figured bearclaw spruce top
East Indian rosewood back and sides
25" scale length--just fabulous
1-3/4" nut width
2-1/4" string spacing
Round neck profile
Strap button installed at neck base
Waverly tuning machines
Carmel "waves" inlay at 12th fret
Wolfpak hybrid case/gig bag

There are a couple of cosmetic blemishes on this guitar, such as a small ding on the top edge of the headstock and another one in the binding on the lower bout. There is also some minor finish checking near the sound hole--see last photo.

Last but not least, here are some photos:

Asking $2350 shipped in CONUS, split paypal fees if you choose that route. Thanks as always!

Thanks, Lab rat! She is indeed a beauty--in both looks and tone. With the tapered bracing, the clarity of this guitar is astounding.

Happy to take $175 off the price if you'd prefer another hardshell case (instead of the Ameritage)

Price goes down to $2175--for a Carmel!

There is Nothing anywhere to be found on the Carmel guitar co. have they gone out of business? I have searched the web and there is no site for them.

if you click on "contact info" on this profile it pulls up an email - might be able to get that question answered there - he's one of the founders.

McCabes in Santa Monica, CA seems to always have a guitar or two in stock from Carmel Guitar Co. Perhaps an inquiry to them will result in more information.

Apparently Carmel is no more, going to be Padilla guitar co....second hand info from a reliable source, the orig. partnership has been dissolved. I think the only ones are those left for sale by dealers....not sure this is 100% accurate info but came from a dealer...

I've got a Carmel Guitar Co. guitar and these guitars have incredible tone. I've never heard a bad review.
Good luck!

They are very, very nice guitars. If this was an OM I would have grabbed it, I'm just not a Dread guy. But someone will be very happy with this.

another day, another bump for this sweet short scale Carmel

I'm considering a compelling trade offer on this one, but my pocketbook would be happier with a cash sale... This won't be around for much longer, so now is your chance
